Chelsea v QPR: Blues can build on brilliant Barca performance

Published:

Chelsea may have been camped in their own half during their Nou Camp heroics in the week, but expect a very different Blues team to emerge from the tunnel at Stamford Bridge this Sunday.

With Roberto Di Matteo’s men high in confidence and looking to avenge their defeat at Loftus Road earlier this season, QPR will face a tough battle to get anything out of this game…

Match odds

Chelsea head into this game as the big 4/9 favourites and, based on their current form, it’s easy to see why.

Since the exit of Andre Villas-Boas, the Blues have been on an excellent run and are now ten games without defeat – a run that included a victory over Barcelona.

With the likes of Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires, Raul Meireles and captain John Terry suspended for the Champions League final, there is no danger of players being rested for this west London derby and they will be tough to beat.

QPR did see off a nine-man Chelsea earlier in the season though and, if you fancy an upset, then Mark Hughes’ men can be backed at 15/2 to get their first Premier League away win of 2012.

Goal markets

The Hoops defeated Chelsea 1-0 earlier in the season and the same result can be backed 20/1 this time out.
However, with QPR failing to score in their last two away days and Chelsea showing incredible resilience against Barca, a punt on the hosts to keep a clean sheet at 6/5 could be pretty lucrative.

Finally, Fernando Torres scored an extremely well-taken goal at the Nou Camp and, with Didier Drogba starting that game, there is every chance the Spaniard will begin this clash.

Torres is 3/1 to open the scoring at Stamford Bridge.
