Championship accumulator: Southampton head 43/1 fivefold

Published:

The South Coast derby is always a feisty affair but we are backing Southampton to overcome near rivals Portsmouth and kick start a Championship accumulator at over 44/1.

Nigel Adkins’ side were beaten last week by play-off chasing Blackpool and will be looking to bounce back.

They have won 14 of the 31 league meetings between the two sides and the Saints should have too much for their cash-strapped neighbours.

Watford are the Championship’s form side and are undefeated in their last seven outings. Sean Dyche’s men face Blackpool at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets are making a late surge for the play-offs and in their current form they should have a bit too much for Ian Holloway’s men, despite trailing the Seasiders by six points.

Hull find themselves on a dour run that has seen them lose four on the bounce, but they could reignite their play-off hopes at Milwall.

Hull haven’t won at The New Den since 1986 but with Millwall without a home triumph since Boxing Day, it looks a real possibility that that long-awaited victory could come this weekend.

Coventry have undergone something of a revival of late. The Sky Blues have not lost in six games and been beaten in only two of their last ten.

Peterborough have lost five of their last eight league games and have failed to win an away fixture in the Championship all year.

Nottingham Forest can further open the gap between themselves and Bristol City when they meet the Robins at the City Ground.

Forest have lost just one of their last six in the league and can manufacture a nine-point gap from the drop zone with victory.

Meanwhile, Bristol City are on a torrid run, having won only one in their last 13 and their last away success came way back in December.
