Blackburn can keep the pressure on Dalglish and Liverpool

Liverpool’s Premier League season may be as good as over but their trip to Blackburn this Tuesday remains an important test for the Reds.

The pressure on manager Kenny Dalglish is increasing with every passing game and a victory against his former club would at least offer some respite ahead of their massive FA Cup semi final against Everton next weekend.

According to the Daily Mail and several other sources, Liverpool’s American owners are set to fly in to Liverpool ahead of that clash for “showdown talks” with the Scot and Dalglish will be keeping his fingers crossed that his side can improve on their very average recent record against Rovers to make the conversation rather more civil.

The Reds have already been held by Steve Kean’s men once this season and have only beaten Rovers twice in the last five encounters between the teams.

Liverpool also have the second worst record of any Premier League side over their past six games and you have to go back to early February to find the last time they picked up points in consecutive games.

However, Blackburn remain rooted in the relegation zone following three straight defeats in their last three games and are outsiders at 13/5 to pick up three points in this clash.

With two teams low on confidence and both desperate to avoid defeat, this has all the makings of being an extremely close encounter.

Two of the last four meetings between these sides at Ewood Park have finished goalless and backing the same scoreline this time out at 8/1 could yield a very tidy payout.
