Atl Madrid v Real Madrid: Real to re-open lead with derby win

Published:

Real Madrid will be eager to re-establish the four-point gap between themselves and Barcelona at the top of La Liga when they make the short journey to take on city rivals Atletico.

Real are priced at 1/2 to triumph in the Madrid derby and extend their unbeaten league run, a string of results that dates back to December, when they were defeated by Barcelona at the Bernabeau.

Atletico have not beaten Real since 1999 and are priced at 5/1 to spring a surprise here.

However, the last time Los Colcheneros mustered a victory over the men in white they went on to claim back-to-back 3-1 wins in successive seasons against Los Merengues, a triumph by this margin for the hosts can be backed at 50/1.

The red half of the Spanish capital have drawn nearly a third of their games in the league this season and despite this contest being a historically tight affair, there hasn’t been a stalemate between these two in the last seven clashes, it is 10/3 about the draw here.

Cristiano Ronaldo is experiencing yet another fantastic season, notching 37 league goals so far this term, unsurprisingly, the Portuguese striker is 2/1 favourite to strike first here, whilst the home side’s Columbian 20-goal man Radamel Falcao is an intriguing 5/1 shot to be the first man to hit the target.

Real have been leading at half-time in 24 of their 31 fixtures so far this season and at 11/10 look good value to be leading at half-time and full-time in the Vicente Calderon.

Jose Mourinho’s side have scored five goals in three of their last four La Liga outings and won the reverse fixture 4-1, they are 3/1 to score 4+ goals when they square up to Atletico.
