Charley Hoffman to continue good record at Valero Texas Open

Published:

The PGA Tour heads to Texas this week, and the TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open, where Charley Hoffman is at 25/1 to score the win and continue his fantastic record here, having only once finished outside the top 13.

Hoffman heads to Texas in good form after finishing tied eighth last time out at Hilton Head and with a cumulative 47 under for his six showings at Valero, he looks a good bet to produce the goods.

Fredrik Jacobson is in good touch after making the cut at all seven events he has competed in this year and is at 20/1 to triumph, on a course where he has finished second and tied fifth in his last two outings.

Matt Kuchar is the 12/1 favourite after performing well in the Masters, where he was in contention right in to the back nine before finishing tied third, and he will no doubt be competing near the top of the leaderboard.

American JB Holmes is priced at 25/1 to taste victory. Holmes is a big fan of playing in Southern Texas and in his last five starts in either Houson or San Antonio he has four finishes of top 13 or better, including a tied 11th last year at Valero.

Cameron Triangle has unfinished business here. Last time out he blew his chances with a number of bogeys in Sunday’s back nine, eventually finishing tied fifth, he clearly knows how to play the San Antonio course and is 40/1 to be the victor this time.

A good outside punt here is Chris Stroud. The Texas-born player has five top-15 finishes in his nine starts this year; despite being outside the top 90 on tour he could spring a surprise at 50/1.

Colt Knost is also an intriguing prospect at a very long 66/1. Also a Texan resident, Knost has two top-three finishes to his name this year, including last week, and will head into this one full of confidence.
