Weekly Accumulator: Man City head our 94/1 Europa League picks

| 08.03.2012

Having won in Portugal in the last round of the Europa League, we are tipping a Manchester City victory away to Sporting Lisbon to begin a six-result accumulator that pays a combined 94/1.

Fresh from knocking out Porto, Manchester City will be hoping to reach the quarter finals of the Europa League by progressing beyond more Portuguese opposition.

Sporting lost to relegation-threatened Vitoria Setubal in their latest Portuguese league outing and play in a similar manner to Porto, but with arguably less-talented personnel in the majority of positions.

Valencia dumped out Stoke in the round of 32 and will also fancy their chances of further progress against PSV Eindhoven.

PSV’s preparation for the tie has not been the best as they conceded six at home to FC Twente in their latest Dutch league encounter and their defensive weakness can also be exploited in Spain by Roberto Soldado and co.

Twente’s thumping of PSV will leave them full of confidence and Steve McLaren can inspire another success at home to a Schalke side that will be without leading scorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Atletico Madrid have never lost at home to Turkish opposition and Besiktas are still to register a first success in Spain and this bodes well for another victory for Diego Simeone’s men.

We are also tipping two draws as firstly defensively tight Olympiacos can use their record of one goal conceded in four European games to their advantage to gain a result at Metalist Kharkiv.

Meanwhile, Hannover can fare better than they did at Standard Liege in the group stages of the Europa League when they lost 2-0 by claiming a draw in Belgium.

Hannover have also won in Belgium since this defeat as they beat Club Brugge in the last round of the Europa League.

Europa League selections
Atletico Madrid to beat Besiktas @ 4/11
Valencia to beat PSV @ 4/7
Man City to beat Sporting Lisbon @ 4/5
Twente to beat Schalke @ 6/5
Standard Liege to draw with Hannover @ 9/4
Metalist Kharkiv to draw with Olympiacos @ 12/5
