Swansea v Everton: high-flying Swans should see off visitors

Published:

Just three weeks ago, following defeats against Sunderland and Norwich City, survival was the only thing on the mind of Swansea City and their fans.

Now, after consecutive wins against Wigan Athletic, Manchester City and Fulham, the Swans are eyeing the top half of the Premier League and could even pull level on points with Liverpool this Saturday if they win and the Reds lose.

However, Everton have also been enjoying their traditional strong second-half of the season and, after their comfortable win against Brendan Rodgers’ men earlier in the season, the Liberty should hold no fear…

Match odds

Swansea are the 6/5 favourites to win this clash and there are plenty of reasons to suggest they will do just that.

The Swans have won their previous three games and, at the Liberty Stadium this season, they have been absolutely fantastic. They’ve lost just two games (against Manchester United and Norwich) and have beaten Man City and Arsenal in south Wales.

They are hard to back against but David Moyes’ men have not lost an away game to a team outside the current top seven (the Swans are eighth) and have lost just two of their previous 12 – although two of them have come in their last three.

The Toffees are 12/5 to get a win and 9/4 to pick up a point.

Goal markets

Everton beat the Swans 1-0 at Goodison Park earlier in the season and the same result can be backed at 9/1 while a Swansea win by the same score is 7/1.

The south Wales side have kept six clean sheets at home this term though and just four of their 14 games at the Liberty have yielded three goals or more.

Backing the Swans to win to nil at 5/2 and under 2.5 goals at 8/13 look like bets well worth consideration.

Finally, Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson hit two in their win against Fulham last week and is 6/1 to open the scoring this time out.
