Stoke v Man City: visitors to show title credentials with another win

Published:

After an hour of Manchester City’s midweek game against Chelsea, their title chances were as good as being written off.

However, a goal apiece from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri saw them come back to beat the west London side 2-1 and move to within one point of rivals Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

That was at the Etihad stadium though, where they have been incredible this season, winning every game. Away from Eastlands though, things have been rather different…

Match odds

Man City are the 8/13 favourites to win this clash with Stoke but the visitors have found things tricky on the road in recent weeks.

The Citizens have won just two of their previous eight Premier League away games and their last away day saw them succumb to a 1-0 defeat against Swansea City.

Meanwhile, after a dismal few weeks that saw them go four home games without a win, Stoke have picked up three points in each of their last two games at the Britannia and can be backed at 5/1 to get another win this time out.

The draw can be backed at 13/5 which may be worth consideration with Stoke drawing at Spurs in their last encounter and the Citizens struggling to put teams away on the road.

Goal markets

As well as wins, City have found goals incredibly hard to get away from home in the past few months, with Roberto Mancini’s men hitting just two in their last six away from the Etihad.

With Stoke keeping a clean sheet in each of their previous two home games, backing under 2.5 goals at 4/5 looks well worth consideration.

Finally, after his brief cameo against Chelsea in the week, Carlos Tevez could be in line to play a bigger part in this game and he can be backed at 4/1 to be the last goalscorer in the match.
