Spurs and Arsenal most likely to give Mourinho the call

Chelsea may be the 3/1 favourites to be the next club that Jose Mourinho will manage when leaving Real Madrid, but it is London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal that appear the most likely next destinations for him to arrive next.

Mourinho’s time at Real Madrid appears to be on a downward spiral, as he continues to be jeered by sections of the support despite the club currently sitting ten points clear at the top of the La Liga standings from Barcelona.

If Mourinho can guide Real Madrid to Champions League glory this season then there is an even greater that he will move on from the Bernabeu this summer, while he surely will only stay for one further year maximum if they do not.

Chelsea would love to take Mourinho back and he may feel he has unfinished business after failing to lead the club to Champions League glory in his spell at Stamford Bridge.

However, it remains to be seen whether Andre Villa-Boas will be sacked after just a single season in charge, especially given the amount of compensation that was paid to lure him from Porto.

Meanwhile, the plan was that Villas-Boas was an appointment for the long term.

Given that he has Sir Alex Ferguson’s respect and blessing to be a future Manchester United manager, there is every chance that he will take over at Old Trafford at some point in the coming years.

It is 7/1 that Mourinho’s next club is Manchester United, but it is unlikely that he will stay at Real Madrid for the same period of time as Sir Alex decides to keep managing until retirement.

Tottenham are expected to require a new manager in the summer with Harry Redknapp potentially taking the England job and so this would look a logical location for Mourinho, especially as he will be sure to be backed in the transfer market.

Alternatively, there is the chance that Arsenal and Real Madrid will simply decide to swap managers, give that the Spanish giants are known to have Arsene Wenger on their shortlist.

Restoring success to a fallen giant is the perfect challenge for Mourinho and so 16/1 seems big value that his next position is at Arsenal, while it is 5/1 that he heads to Tottenham next.
