Semi-final top score makes Matthew likely Dancing On Ice winner
Published:Points gained in the semi finals of Dancing On Ice have often had a huge bearing on the show winner in the past and this suggests that it is hard to oppose Matthew Wolfenden to triumph this time at 4/7.
This is now the seventh series of Dancing On Ice and only once previously has the celebrity to top the leaderboard in the semi final failed to secure overall victory, which was when Chris Fountain lost out to Suzanne Shaw back in series three.
Therefore, a victory for Matthew would be the fourth series in succession where the top act in the semi final has triumphed.
Next in the betting comes Jorgie Porter at 2/1 and she will claim victory if the alternating gender pattern of winners continues, with the same gender failing to win back-to-back series’ so far.
Sam Attwater was the overall winner in the last series and as Jorgie is the only female in the final, she represents the only hope of continuing the alternating trend.
However, if Jorgie is to win she will have to become the first celebrity to do so having been involved in the skate-off in the semi final.
At least according to judge Louis Spence, the final is a shoot-out between the two acts as he feels Chico has the slimmest of chances of victory.
Not only did Chico miss out on weeks of training after being introduced as a late show replacement for the injured Chesney Hawkes, he is also the only one of the final three to have never experienced any previous formal dance training.
Chico is 6/1 to win Dancing On Ice and could attract votes for being the forgotten contestant in the show, while he did only finish 0.5 points adrift of Matthew on the leaderboard in the semi finals.
