Redknapp looks to enter history books with Spurs FA Cup glory

After comfortably disposing of Bolton 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final last night, Tottenham Hotspur find themselves 11/5 joint-favourites to win the 2012 FA Cup.

Spurs have long been fancied for the trophy, though it may have taken on even greater significance for them now as their title challenge has faded into non-existence.

Only two managers have ever lifted the FA Cup with two different clubs, and as the pair were the legendary Herbert Chapman and Billy Walker, Harry Redknapp would be joining some pretty exclusive company should he become the first man in over 50 years to achieve the feat, after his 2008 success with Portsmouth.

Chelsea stand in Redknapp’s way of a final appearance, and the rejuvenated Blues are also 11/5 to claim what would be a third FA Cup win in five years.

Roberto Di Matteo will be determined to bring some silverware to Stamford Bridge, as he aims to convince owner Roman Abramovich that he is worthy of taking on the managerial reins on a permanent basis.

Elsewhere in the tournament, a Merseyside derby will be played out at Wembley, with Carling Cup winners Liverpool only slightly longer at 12/5 for an eighth FA Cup triumph, and what would be a first success in the competition since 2006.

The Reds were strongly fancied to complete a domestic cup double after they bested Cardiff to score the Carling Cup, but patchy league form has shown more clearly their abundant weaknesses, leading to them being pushed out to 12/5 for glory.

Everton stand in their way of a final appearance, and the Toffees are without doubt the tournament outsiders as 5/1 shots, but were impressive in winning away to Sunderland last night, and will be eager to improve on their 2009 performance in the competition, where they suffered a 2-1 final defeat to Chelsea.
