Outlook bleak for QPR and Wolves after defeats to fellow strugglers

There is finally the slightest bit of breathing space for Blackburn (7/4 to go down) and Bolton (5/4) after they secured potentially season-defining victories over relegation rivals Wolves and QPR.

The defeated duo’s odds have also been significantly affected by the outcome of Saturday’s so-called six-pointers, with Wolves in to 3/10 to return to the Championship after three years in the big time and QPR at 1/3.

QPR’s reverse in the early kick-off at Bolton, their third to a bottom-five rival since Mark Hughes’ January arrival – which despite several signings has reaped just five points in eight games – was hugely controversial though.

The Hoops appeared to have taken the lead at 0-0 when Clint Hill headed in from a corner, only for the linesman to fail to see the ball cross the line, to the unsurprisingly fury of Hughes and his players.

The display of Djibril Cisse, who on his return from a ban created several chances for team-mates and scored a goal that looked like earning the Hoops a point before Ivan Klasnic’s late intervention, will give fans hope that all is not lost.

For Wolves, optimism is far tougher to glean after Junior Hoilett’s brace saw them beaten at home by Blackburn and also meant that they have shipped seven goals in two matches over the past seven days.

There were also supporter protests at Molineux against owner Steve Morgan relating to the appointment of complete rookie Terry Connor as manager until May having talked to the likes of Alan Curbishley and Steve Bruce.

Midfielder Jamie O’Hara meanwhile has expressed his disgust at being sought out for a fight by disgruntled supporters while with his wife and children.

QPR fans and players are also alleged to have clashed following their costly loss upon the conclusion of the return journey at Euston, with a small group who had boarded the same train back from the north west hurling abuse.
