Ladbrokes top price on strong hope Mull Of Killough in Lincoln

Mull Of Killough made a bright start to life in a new stable with victory at Lingfield in January and Ladbrokes are offering the top price of 20/1 that he follows up with a far greater success in the Lincoln.

The decision was made to switch the horse from the yard of Richard Fahey to Jane Chapple-Hyam and this obviously did no harm as Mull Of Killough came through up the inside rail to land the spoils.

Despite the early pace being slow, Mull Of Killough showed great late speed with the blinkers removed to claim victory and he should be better suited to the extra speed expected to be on show at Doncaster.

Furthermore, the handicapper only raised him 2lb for his Lingfield triumph, which puts Mull Of Killough back on the same mark as that when he finished third in the Lincoln two years ago.

However, on that occasion the ground was arguably softer than the horse would ideally prefer, something which is unlikely to prove an excuse at Doncaster this year.

The firmer the ground the better for the horse and with the weather forecast being warm and bright in the coming days, he must have an each-way chance.

Some of the other big trends for the Lincoln also boost the chances of Mull Of Killough.

The biggest is that seven of the ten winners have carried a weight between 8st9lb and 9st to victory, which automatically limits this year’s field down to a maximum of 11 entries, with some of these liable to pull out before race day on Saturday.

Meanwhile, like Mull Of Killough, eight of the last ten Lincoln victors had triumphed on exactly one of their last three racecourse starts.
