Aston Villa v Fulham: home side can snatch much-needed win

Published:

Without a win in five league games, Aston Villa will welcome the visit of abysmal travellers Fulham as they aim to take all three points at 13/10.

Fulham, with just two away wins to their name all season, are 2/1 to claim their third triumph on the road at Villa Park, and will be aiming to build on some solid form of late.

As Villa have drawn more games than any other side in the division this season, this could encourage many to take on the 23/10 for the draw, but Villa should take advantage of a tremendous opportunity to record a much-needed win.

Although a big gripe of Villa fans regarding Alex McLeish’s management is the low amount of goals they have scored, they have conceded few as well, and may be able to justify 7/1 odds for a 1-0 victory here, bearing in mind the Cottagers have notched just eight times away from home.

Also, with Villa being level in almost half of their 27 league matches this term, the 4/1 odds for a draw at half-time, and Villa to be in front by the final whistle look attractive.

It could also pay to back McLeish’s men to score their first goal in the second half, as has been the case with the majority of their strikes this season, at 15/8.

In terms of goalscorers, the Villains are hoping someone can step up to fill the void left by the injured Darren Bent and departed Robbie Keane, and Gabby Agbonlahor looks the most likely at 5/1 to get the first goal.

Visiting Fulham have no such trouble in front of goal, and Pavel Pogrebnyak is 6/1 to add to his five goals in three games by breaking the deadlock here, while Clint Dempsey is the same price to add to his 18 strikes with the opener.
