Wigan Warriors named as favourites for the Super League

WIGAN WARRIORS are the 5/2 favourites to win Super League XVII according to Ladbrokes.

As the road to Old Trafford begins the firm will be top price on all 14 Super League XVII teams to win the competition until kick off on Friday night.

After finishing second last year the Warriors crashed out to St. Helens in the semi-final but they’re fancied by punters to take home the title this year at 5/2. Warrington Wolves (11/4) also fell at the final hurdle but they edge favouritism over finalists St. Helens (7/2) and Leeds Rhinos at 5/1.

As play begins on Friday evening Leeds are odds-on (2/9) to claim the first victory of the season against Hull KR (10/3) and in the battle between wooden spoon favourites it’s the Wildcats (11/10) who are preferred over Widnes Vikings at 8/1.

Sam Tomkins (4/1) is the market leader for the Man of Steel award with last year’s winner Rangi Chase chalked up at 10/1.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “The odds suggest the same four will dominate the league again. Punters who want to back their team for Super League glory need not shop around.”
