The only thing scarier than a giant is an angry giant, so quite what Chisora was aiming to achieve when he delivered a hard slap to the 6ft7.5in WBC heavyweight champion during Friday’s weigh-in isn’t at all clear.
It will ensure an even more partisan crowd in the favour of the Ukrainian, already a 1/14 favourite, and makes it even less likely that the 40-year-old, a winner in his last 11 bouts, seven by knockout, will underestimate the threat posed by the Brit.
Chisora’s huge price of 8/1 is influenced by entering the showdown on the back of two losses in the past year. His defeat to Robert Helenius was a tad controversial, though the one in which Tyson Fury took his British and Commonwealth titles wasn’t.
Round betting
Klitschko has been taken the distance just twice in 16 fights – a period spanning over a decade – so it is unsurprising that the veteran is 2/7 to claim victory either by KO, TKO or a disqualification, with 1/4 offered on the judges not being required.
If everything goes as the odds suggest, that leaves the question of when the bout will be stopped. Of the last seven Klitschko’s scraps to have reached an early conclusion, six ended in either Round 8 (9/1), Round 9 (10/1) or Round 10 (11/1).
Round 8 has been the most common point of no return in that period, providing the final of three of those, while those wanting a bit more security can find 3/1 on the fight finishing in Dr Ironfist’s favour at any point between Rounds 7-9.
