Stopping Brady can see Giants cause another Super Bowl upset
Published:New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the name on everyone’s lips heading into this weekend’s Super Bowl – and it’s no different for the New York Giants.
The Giants head into the game as 5/4 outsiders as the Patriots look to get revenge for their 17-14 defeat in Super Bowl XLII.
However, much of their favouritism can be put down to the continued brilliance of Brady who is looking to claim his fourth Super Bowl title and his third Super Bowl MVP crown.
The Giants have 48 sacks this season though and defensive end Justin Tuck reckons his team have the defence to cause Brady plenty of problems.
Speaking to ESPN, Tuck said: “Even when you don’t actually get sacks, just keeping people around him so he can’t step up. I think he gets a little frustrated when he has to go to his second or third receivers.
“You can kind of confuse him sometimes with our coverage. I thought there are a lot of things that can get him rattled, but it just seems like not too many people are able to do that.”
The Giants three pass-rushing defensive ends – Tuck, Osi Umenyiora and Jason Pierre-Paul – have been excellent throughout the season and, if the New York side are to repeat their win in the February 2008 Super Bowl, then they will need to stay at their best.
If they the Giants’ game plan comes off though, backing them for another upset could certainly be worth considering – especially with regards to in-play betting.
