Scrappy Giants can cause another Super Bowl upset against Patriots

Published:

It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated Super Bowl games in recent years and there are plenty of intriguing aspects to the rematch between New England Patriots and the New York Giants.

However, while all the headlines will be about Eli Manning and his quarterback counterpart Tom Brady, the desire of the Patriots to get revenge for their February 2008 Super Bowl defeat against the Giants or whether Madonna’s half-time show will be memorable for all the wrong reasons, the main question is – who will win?

While the Patriots are once again the favourites, the Giants have shown their grit and determination to get this far and a punt on them to come through again may be worth considering.

Despite having a less than impressive 12-7 record throughout the season, they have tightened up their defence in the play-offs and swept aside Super Bowl holders, Green Bay Packers, 37-20.

Manning has once again been superb for the Giants and, while he may not have passed as many yards as Brady this season, he has the game to cause the Patriots’ defence some serious problems.

The Patriots’ offensive options have been hit by an ankle injury to tight end Rob Gronkowski and, with the Giants’ defence continuing to gel and improve, that could prove a deciding factor in what promises to be an incredibly tight game.

The Giants are currently 6/5 to get the win and that looks like a punt well worth taking on.

However, if you want to play things a little safer then the Patriots can be backed at 20/27.

Either way, everything is set for this Super Bowl to be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
