QPR v Wolves: Fletcher to upstage other strikers in losing effort

Published:

Wolves do not tend to enjoy their showdowns with London-based opposition and there is no reason to suggest that things will get any better following their trip to QPR.

Mick McCarthy’s team are in the middle of a disappointing run, going nine games without a Premier League win and this form has seen them slump into the relegation places.

This therefore is not the time to experience another trip to the capital, as they have only triumphed in seven of their last 37 Premier League encounters with teams from London.

QPR’s odds are 10/11 to beat Wolves and this could be decent value given the successful transfer window enjoyed by Mark Hughes in strengthening his squad.

However, it is this same raft of new recruits which may offer Wolves the best hope of victory as they take some time to bed into their new surroundings.

Wolves are 3/1 to beat QPR and the hosts have only won one of their last six home Premier League games this season.

Much of the talk will be about QPR’s new strikers preparing to make their home debuts, but it could be visiting striker Steven Fletcher that is in the headlines following the result.

Fletcher has scored in each of his last four away outings in the Premier League and appeals at 7/1 to be the first goalscorer at Loftus Road.

Alternatively, 9/4 may also represent decent value that he strikes at any point in the 90 minutes.

Djibril Cisse got his QPR career off to the perfect start with a debut goal away at Aston Villa and he is 6/4 to make it two in two games by being on target against Wolves.

Meanwhile, Bobby Zamora is in line to make his debut after joining forces with Hughes for a second time after their former days together at Fulham and he is 6/5 to mark the occasion with a goal.
