Norwich v Leicester: Premier League workhorses to outlast Foxes

Published:

Norwich have proved to be one of the surprise packages of the Premier League so far, and after steering them to eighth place with well over half the season gone, Paul Lambert will be confident of guiding his men to victory over Leicester at 4/5.

His Canaries side disposed of Burnley in an emphatic 4-1 home win, before battling to a 2-1 triumph on the road at West Brom to set up this Carrow Road clash with the Championship side, who are 3/1 to win in the FA Cup odds.

In truth, there does not appear to be much to choose between the two teams on paper, with the travelling Foxes’ side including a host of ex-Premier League talent, and so the draw could interest some punters at 11/5.

However, what may deter some from getting behind that outcome is the sheer drive evident in Norwich’s play, as proved by the high numbers of goals they have scored in the second half of matches over the past two seasons.

25 of Norwich’s 43 goals in all competitions this term have come after the break, and so the 7/2 on offer for the teams to be drawing at half-time with Norwich leading at full-time looks good.

Tight defensively in the main, Norwich still do tend to concede in most of their matches, and the attacking talents within the visitors ranks would make the 11/4 for Norwich to win with both teams to score look an attractive bet.

The visitors have failed to find the net only four times on the road this season.

Their striker Jermaine Beckford loves the FA Cup, having smashed 14 goals in his last 16 appearances in the competition, and he can be backed at 8/1 to add to that with the opener here.

Steve Morison should return to the starting lineup for the home side though, and he will want to prove a point with the first goal at 9/2.
