Injury returns give Spurs a massive boost ahead of Arsenal derby

Tottenham are hoping to further cement their title credentials on Sunday, piling more misery on crisis-stricken Arsenal by winning at the Emirates at 17/10.

Arsenal fans may have been clinging to the hope that Emmanuel Adebayor wouldn’t be able to return to the Emirates in the colours of their arch rivals, but it now appears the Togolese striker will be fit to start after a knee injury, and could replace Louis Saha up front.

What is equally concerning for the home side is the return from a calf strain of Rafael Van der Vaart, with the imperious midfielder ready to replace Niko Kranjcar in the advanced midfield role that he has performed so well in this season, particularly with Adebayor as a foil.

The pair have started 15 Premier League games together this season, of which Tottenham have won 11 matches, while losing just once in this time.

Keep in mind that Van der Vaart hit a brace against the Gunners on their own soil last season, as well as finding the net at White Hart Lane earlier this term, and Arsenal seem to have a right to be worried about justifying an 11/8 price to beat Spurs in the Premier League odds.

Adebayor too has impressed against his former club in recent years, sparking scenes of controversy when finding the net against Wenger’s men during the infancy of his Manchester City career.

Certain to receive a hostile reception from the fans who once adored him, Adebayor will be desperate to find the net against his former club again and add to his ten goals so far this season.

With potency in terms of both assists and goals flowing throughout the travelling side on Sunday, Adebayor will provide a focal point for Van der Vaart to feed off, and the striker’s four assists in Spurs’ last league outing showed what a creative force he is too.

Each player’s return appears to signify that 17/10 is a great price to invest in for a Tottenham win on Sunday.
