England vs Wales: Triple Crown chance at stake in Six Nations clash

Published:

Tournament favourites Wales travel to Twickenham, not a happy hunting ground for them in recent history, priced up as 8/13 favourites to beat England and therefore claim a Triple Crown accolade.

Home side England are hoping to complete the second leg of their own Triple Crown bid after defeating Scotland, and patriotic punters can get behind Stuart Lancaster’s charges at 6/4 to make it three wins from three.

The far-fetched tie is 20/1, but with both sides victorious in each of their opening matches, this outcome could see more attention than usual.

Warren Gatland’s first game in charge of Wales occurred at Twickenham, and he managed to steer them to a first success at the ground in 20 years on that day.

With a stronger team now than he had on that day, and buoyed from an exciting recent World Cup run and the prospect of completing a Grand Slam, many punters may be tempted to get behind the away side at an enhanced 1/1 price to win giving up a three-point start.

However, England are the same price to triumph with a three-point head start, and with the likes of Ben Morgan, Manu Tuilagi and Lee Dickson returning, the home side look to have a tremendous chance of pulling off an upset, and Tuilagi looks an interesting shout at 14/1 to score the first try.

In the 2011 Six Nations meeting between the sides at Twickenham, a 26-19 scoreline resulted in favour of England, and the 5/6 odds for there to be more than 40.5 points in the match look appealing, as does the 2/1 for over 46.5 points to be scored.

England have been behind in each of their first two games of this year’s Six Nations campaign by half-time, prior to going on to win.

Punters can get a big 8/1 on Wales to be leading at half-time with England emerging victorious at the final whistle here.
