Tottenham vs Everton: Spurs can sweep past depleted Toffees

Published:

Everton travel to Tottenham five months later than scheduled for this Premier League clash – and they may end up wishing it was postponed indefinitely.

The game was originally meant to take place back in August but was postponed because of the Tottenham riots and now Everton must face Harry Redknapp’s men with a host of injury problems.

Phil Jagielka, Tim Cahill, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell, Tony Hibbert and Seamus Coleman are all doubts for an Everton side who aren’t exactly overburdened with a large squad.

Spurs also have a few problems with Ledley King and William Gallas out injured and Scott Parker facing a late fitness test.

However, with Michael Dawson set to return to Premier League action after captaining Spurs to a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham in the FA Cup on Saturday, the Premier League title contenders look in great shape…

Match odds

Spurs are big 8/15 favourites to win this game but Everton have cause to be optimistic about their chances.

The Toffees have lost just once in their previous eight Premier League meetings with Spurs and have lost just one of their last four away games.

They are 11/2 to beat Spurs.

However, this Spurs team is flying and a victory would see them pull level with Manchester United and to within three points of Manchester City at the top of the table.

They have lost just one of their last 26 Premier League games at White Hart Lane and backing Spurs at 8/15 looks to be the most attractive match bet.

Goal markets

Spurs have shipped just three goals in their previous eight Premier League home games and, with Everton having the fifth worst attack in the league this term, backing Spurs to keep a clean sheet at 11/10 is well worth consideration.

Meanwhile, Rafael van der Vaart scored in both of Spurs’ games against Everton last season and is 9/2 to score the opening goal in this clash.
