The Weekly Accumulator: Liverpool to lead home 250/1 FA Cup bet

Published:

FA Cup third round weekend is finally upon us and with the all of the 20 Premier League teams and 24 Championship clubs joining the competition, there is a nice mix of bankers and probable upsets on offer.

We believe we have found nine winners in the third round draw, with Liverpool considered the biggest certainties and Dagenham and Redbridge to spring the most unexpected surprise.

The FA Cup is sure to be taken seriously by Liverpool and they will be keen to end a run of successive third round exits by making it four wins in the competition over Oldham.

Salisbury are making their first ever third round appearance at Sheffield United and the Blades should be able to build on a record of just one defeat in 13 previous FA Cup fixtures with non-league opposition.

Reading currently have the best recent home form in the Championship and can continue this against Stevenage, while Stoke can build on last season’s final appearance by winning at Gillingham.

In terms of upsets, QPR have not made it past the third round since 2001 and Neil Warnock has been known to play weakened teams in the cup when there is a reason to prioritise in the league.

They may struggle at League One high-flyers MK Dons, while Millwall also tend to have difficulty making it beyond round three and travel to a Dagenham and Redbridge side enjoying a rich boost in form of late.

Elsewhere, Brighton can beat Conference table-toppers Wrexham, Doncaster can see off Notts County and Swansea can build on their first ever Premier League away victory by winning on the road again at Barnsley.
