The Weekly Accumulator: Derby can pile misery on lowly Coventry

Published:

With every Championship team in action this Saturday, it is a great opportunity for punters to attempt an accumulator on the second tier.

We think we’ve picked out five winners that would pay a combined 28/1.

In-form Derby, with 13 points from their past five games, lead our selections at home to rock-bottom Coventry.

Derby have failed to win in the last three meetings between the sides and will never have a better chance than this to put that right.
Another of the division’s form sides, Birmingham, travel to a Millwall side in freefall.

Birmingham have won four of the past five meetings and should be able to overcome their hosts to inflict a fourth consecutive defeat on the Londoners.

Hull have stuttered in the past couple of weeks after an impressive start under boss Nicky Barmby but they should be able to see off Peterborough at the KC Stadium.

Former ‘Boro striker Aaron McLean got the winner in the reverse fixture earlier this season, and the Tigers should match that result on home soil.

Leicester are another of our home picks, with boss Nigel Pearson desperately needing to improve the home form of a side that should be challenging at the top end of the table with the immense resources they have.

They meet a Barnsley side who have tailed off slightly after some terrific early-season form that saw them flirt with the play-off spots, and surely have too much class for the Yorkshire outfit.

Southampton wrap up our selections, desperate to arrest a run of form that has seen their grip on the top spot loosen considerably.

They must win to ensure they remain top after the current gameweek and have a superb chance to do so at the City Ground, taking on a Nottingham Forest side that has lost eight of their 13 home matches.
