Seeds to fall at Australian Open as Goerges and Li may find trouble

Sam Stosur and Francesca Schiavone are two big seeds to have already fallen at the Australian Open and Na Li could be the latest to slide out in Melbourne.

Last year’s beaten finalist and the current number five seed takes on Anabel Medina Garrigues in the third round and she is an opponent that has given her a game in the past.

Another upset is also possible in the day five action in the women’s draw as number 22 seed Julia Goerges faces improving Italian Romina Oprandi.

Anabel Medina Garrigues to beat Na Li @ 13/2

Li has hardly broken sweat in progressing through the opening two rounds, comfortably defeating Ksenia Pervak and Olivia Rogowska.

However, her previous record against Medina Garrigues suggests things are about to get tougher.

The Spaniard has won three of their four previous matches, including two victories in straight sets and has only dropped seven games in moving into the third round of the Australian Open.

Punters wanting to take less of a chance can get a great 10/11 that Medina Garrigues triumphs with a handicap of 6.5 games, meaning that if she loses 6-3, 6-3 then the bet would still be successful.

Romina Oprandi to beat Julia Goerges @ 6/4

Oprandi is much improved in recent weeks and her current form belies her fairly lowly spot in the WTA rankings.

The Italian was responsible for dumping out Schiavone in round two and was also making serene progress through the recent Hobart Interantional before running into eventual winner Mona Barthel.

Goerges has not been particularly convincing in 2012 to date and looks a prime candidate for an upset.

Oprandi to win in straight sets also has a small amount of appeal at 10/3.
