Ricky Gervais specials on offer for Golden Globes

Published:

RICKY GERVAIS is 10/1 to be punched by an actor or actress at the Golden Globes this weekend, according to Ladbrokes.

The controversial host takes to the stage for the third time and it’s odds-on (1/2) that he’s heckled by an audience member and he’s 1/5 to respond. After offending most of Hollywood in recent years, it’s a 5/1 chance an irate member of Tinseltown gets up on stage and throws a drink over him.

It’s just 2/1 that he oversteps the mark and causes a celebrity to leave after a joke about them but conversely Gervais earns a 6/4 quote of receiving a standing ovation.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It appears that Gervais will be the talking point of the ceremony rather than the films. He’ll be looking to bow out on a high, which will of course be a low for his chosen celebrity targets.”

The Artist is 1/8 to be awarded the best music or comedy picture with Michael Hazanavicius (1/2) to pick up the best director award and his leading man Jean Dujardin is odds-on (1/8) to take home this year’s best comedy or musical actor.

The Descendants (8/15) is expected to be crowned with the title of best dramatic motion picture with George Clooney (1/2) at the top of the best actor market. Meryl Streep is 2/5 to earn her eighth Golden Globe award however at 9/4. The Help’s Viola Davis could cause a shock in Los Angeles this weekend.

Jessica Bridge added: “It looks nailed on for all the favourites but The Artist will be hoping to silence its rivals.”
