Refunds on losers if Murray tastes success in Australian Open
Published:IF ANDY MURRAY wins the Australian Open it would trigger a £500k refund, according to Ladbrokes.
The firm are offering to refund losing singles on the outright market should Andy Murray pick up his first major in Melbourne this month. The Scot is 11/2 to take the title off reigning champion and current favourite Novak Djokovic (5/4) with number two seed Roger Federer chalked up at 10/3.
At 1/20 Murray is expected to ease through the first round as he faces Ryan Harrison (15/2) when play gets underway on Monday.
Petra Kvitova (5/2) leads the betting in the women’s market, however, Serena Williams is breathing down her neck at 4/1.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It looks like we’ll be the only people in Britain not cheering Murray on for his first Grand Slam. Djokovic had a stormer last year and the odds suggest he’ll pick up where he left off.”
She added: “Revenge is a dish best served cold and Murray will be hoping to cool down Djokovic in Melbourne.”
