Morocco to get win needed to stay in African Nations Cup contention
Published:One of the early favourites to win the Africa Nations Cup have already departed the competition and Morocco will join Senegal in going home if failing to claim a result against Gabon.
The clash will have a major bearing on which two teams progress from Group C, particularly as Morocoo were defeated in their opener against Tunisia.
Morocco have not enjoyed the most ideal preparation for the fixture, with a number of players including influential duo Marouane Chamakh and Oussama Assaidi having to sit out of training.
However, they played well for the most part against Tunisia and an improvement in finishing should see them triumph at 11/8.
As co-hosts, Gabon will want to make it beyond the group stages and know that a draw would leave them in a strong position to do so, having beaten Niger in their first fixture.
Gabon are 7/4 to follow up with another victory, while the potential draw is 21/10.
Chamakh is expected to recover from his bout of food poisoning and if scoring at any time in the 90 minutes, punters will see their stake refunded for any losing first scorer bets.
The other Group C encounter looks much more straightforward to predict as Tunisia should have little trouble beating Niger.
Like Morocco, Niger need a result to keep alive their chances of progression, but as the weakest team in the tournament on paper, if they attack they mind find themselves exposed.
Although for the most part goals at the African Nations Cup have been in short supply, over 2.5 goals looks well worth backing at 10/11.
Meanwhile, Tunisia are 1/4 to triumph and a 3-1 success stands out in the correct scoreline market at 12/1.
