Lots of early betting options for the African Nations Cup

IVORY COAST are the well backed favourites to win the African Nations Cup, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies report a significant gamble on the Elephants to win the tournament at 13/8 with Dider Drogba also a popular selection in the ‘Top Premier League’ scorer market at the same price. Drogba is also the favourite to be the overall tournament top scorer at 7/2, while Demba Ba’s recent Premier League exploits have forced his top goal price into 7/1 from 10/1.

Senegal are another side for money having opened at 9/1 in December. They currently trade at 6/1 leaving the majority of the other teams friendless except outsiders Gabon who are 20/1 from 28/1 for glory.

The firm are also continuing their popular goalscorer refund concession targeting a series of Premier League favourites. If Demba Ba finds the back of the net at anytime in Senegal’s opening match all losing first goal bets will be refunded with the same offer applying should Gervinho score against Sudan.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The money we’ve taken suggests Ivory Coast could be a class above. They’re short enough however for a tournament of this length and if they slip up punters expect Senegal to be the beneficiaries.

He added: “Premier League favourites have been well backed to get among the goals. Many fancy Ba to maintain his scoring streak.”
