Leicester vs Nottm Forest: Hosts to progress as rivals clash
Published:Leicester and Nottingham Forest will both likely relish the chance to play a game away from their respective faltering league campaigns.
Hosts Leicester, big promotion favourites at the season’s inception after splashing the cash to no small degree, are 8/13 to beat their Midlands rivals in 90 minutes on Tuesday.
They have been somewhat crippled by the immense expectancy surrounding them in King Power Stadium matches so far this season, but should have enough to overcome their struggling neighbours.
Forest, playoff semi-finalists last season, are desperate to achieve some form of stability, with each of their two managers this season failing to perform to the high standard expected.
The Tricky Trees are 7/2 to record a morale-boosting away victory, while 5/2 is the price on offer for the match to end in a draw and go to extra time.
Both teams will have to name strong sides to appease supporters who don’t want to see the importance of this derby undermined, and so the far superior strength in depth on Leicester’s part should count for something here.
Jermaine Beckford came on as a late substitute during Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Barnsley, but should start for the home side against Forest, with the lethal finisher an appealing 5/1 to score first.
His skilful, penalty-specialist teammate Paul Gallagher is the same price and could add to his five goals this term, while top scorer David Nugent may be rested from the off, but is 9/2 to hit the last goal.
The visitors’ defensive record is the second worst in the Championship, and the undoubted quality of players such as incisive midfielder Andy King could aid in unlocking the Reds’ backline.
There are goals aplenty in the home side, and with rotated players keen to make an impression, the 15/8 for Leicester to win overcoming a one-goal handicap appears an attractive punt.
