Carlos Tevez rumours continue as transfer deadline day nears
Published:With just hours of the January transfer window left it appears that Carlos Tevez’s exile is no nearer to coming to an end.
The Manchester City striker hasn’t played a minute of football since he refused to come off the bench for the Citizens in their Champions League game against Bayern Munich in September.
Inter Milan, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the player but none of them were willing to take a risk on him for the sums being demanded by City.
However, over the past few days a new name has allegedly entered the race for Tevez – Liverpool.
There were rumours circulating yesterday that the Reds had approached City with an offer of a straight swap deal involving Tevez and Andy Carroll, while today the Daily Mirror reckons the Merseyside club are after the Argentinean on a loan deal.
The Reds are apparently willing to pay his £200,000-a-week wages until the end of the season and that is starting to look like an increasingly tempting deal with time rapidly running out for City.
The Reds are currently a massive 400/1 to win the Premier League and would not be a threat to City’s title ambitions with Roberto Mancini’s men favourites at 4/9.
Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph have reported that West Ham United remain hopeful of bagging the player on loan – but are willing to wait until the window closes to make their offer.
It’s hard to see the Irons being able to afford Tevez’s astronomical wages though and it looks as though the east London side will have to keep dreaming of a return for Tevez.
Sam Allardyce’s men are currently 5/6 favourites to win the Championship and make an immediate return to the Premier League.
