Norwich may be following Blackpool formula towards relegation

There are many similarities to the start Norwich have made to the Premier League season to that of Blackpool in the last campaign and as a result 13/2 could be a big price that the Canaries make an immediate return to the Championship.

Blackpool began last season as heavy 1/4 favourites in the Premier League odds to face the drop, but surprised many by sitting in the top half of the standings over the Christmas period after 17 games.

However, they only collected a further 14 points over the remainder of the campaign, which saw them relegated by a single point.

This Blackpool team was made up largely of players with little Premier League experience and throughout the season, the club was renowned for conceding goals and being involved in entertaining, high-scoring games.

Norwich are also positioned in the top half after 17 league games, hence the reason why they have gradually drifted from an odds-on quote at the start of the campaign to face the drop.

But like Blackpool, Norwich love a high-scoring fixture and are still waiting for a first clean sheet this season, which is a worry given that the second half of the campaign is just around the corner.

The good news for Norwich is that they still face three of their relegation rivals at home in Wolves, Wigan and Bolton, although the pressure could be too much for their inexperienced stars to handle if they approach these games in poor form.

Surpassing the so-called safety barrier of 40 points may also be critical for Norwich by the end of March, as their run-in is by no means the easiest.

In their last six games, they can look forward to fixtures with Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool.
