Liverpool have great chance to sharpen Anfield edge in QPR visit

Despite arguably meeting a greater standard of opposition on the road this season, it is away from home where Liverpool have undoubtedly excelled in the Premier League.

The Anfield club are 1/3 to improve on a home record that has seen them collect just two wins from seven home fixtures so far, and that looks a generous price even though Kenny Dalglish’s men have only managed draws against the other two promoted sides so far.

In light of this statistic though, the 7/2 on offer for the draw could receive some attention from punters, and Ladbrokes are taking a risk in offering a massive 10/1 price on QPR leaving with all three points.

This is bearing in mind an impressive run of form that has seen the London club rise to 12th in the Premier League, scoring victories away at Goodison Park and the Britannia Stadium along the way.

Steven Gerrard is still missing for Liverpool, and with Lucas Leiva also injured, and Jay Spearing suspended, a more creative if lightweight midfield will be employed which should carve out plenty of opportunities from the off.

Liverpool are 8/13 to win both halves, and whilst the price is undoubtedly enhanced by the patchy Anfield form they’ve shown thus far, they will know they have to improve in front of the home crowd.

An emphatic win is exactly what they will want to show they mean business in front of the Kop, and punters could do worse than to take advantage of the 6/1 on offer for a 3-0 home triumph.

Set-piece specialist Charlie Adam is likely to see more opportunities with a dead ball in the continued absence of Gerrard, and the man who reached double figures for Blackpool last season is a decent 7/1 to notch first here.

For the visitors, Heidar Helguson poses a very serious aerial threat, and odds of 7/2 for the six-goal Icelandic hitman to strike at any time are very generous.
