Ladbrokes World Championship: Anderson and Chisnall to progress

Published:

The third round action continues at the Ladbrokes World Championship and Thursday’s evening session looks set to be a belter with Phil Taylor’s conqueror and the new tournament favourite both in action.

Dave Chisnall’s reward for beating Taylor is a clash with Andy Hamilton, favourite and last year’s beaten finalist Gary Anderson takes on Colin Lloyd and in the other showdown Simon Whitlock faces Michael Van Gerwin.

Michael Van Gerwin to beat Simon Whitlock @ 12/5

With the likes of Raymond Van Barneveld, Vincent van der Voort and Co Stompe all out, Van Gerwin is the sole surviving Dutchman at Alexandra Palace and his fast throwing style could be key against an injury-ridden Whitlock.

Whitlock has done remarkably well to progress through two rounds with a broken ankle and the fact that he will have to play on consecutive days after beating Steve Beaton will be a hindrance rather than a help.

Van Gerwin also triumphed in the last meeting between the pair and can be expected to make the quarter finals of the tournament for the first time.

Dave Chisnall to beat Andy Hamilton @ 4/9

Chisnall will understandably still be on cloud nine after beating Taylor and it would be no surprise if he failed to reproduce the same level of performance against Hamilton.

However, he can still get the better of Hamilton, who may have used up any good luck in his second round encounter with Van Der Voort, when three times coming from behind to eventually progress 4-3.

Gary Anderson to beat Colin Lloyd @ 1/5

Anderson may not have been overly impressive so far, but it shows his credentials that he has still reached this stage of the tournament.

The Scot has won his last four matches with Lloyd and both to have been played in 2011.
