Blackburn vs Bolton: history favours Rovers in relegation scrap

Published:

Blackburn and Bolton face off this Tuesday evening knowing the loser will definitely be in the unwanted position of being bottom of the table at Christmas.

The Trotters are currently at the foot of the table and only a win would be enough to see them overtake Blackburn who are one point ahead and have superior goal difference.

With both Owen Coyle and Steve Kean seemingly on the brink of losing their jobs, this is a massive game for both sides…

Match odds

Bolton head into this game on the back of five straight defeats and only one victory in their previous nine matches.

They have also won just two of their last 13 away Premier League away games and have not recorded a victory at Ewood Park in their previous four visits.

In fact, the Trotters have won just once in their last nine games against Rovers and are 5/2 outsiders for this clash.

With Rovers showing in their 4-2 defeat of Swansea City a fortnight ago that they are still capable of winning on home soil, they look a decent bet at 11/10 to get only their third win of the Premier League season.

Goal markets

Despite their lowly position, finding the net hasn’t been a problem for Rovers this term and they have only failed to score in one of their previous nine league games.

With Bolton owners of the worst defensive record in the division, backing Rovers to win with three or more goals scored in the match looks tempting at 9/4.

Meanwhile, there hasn’t been a goalless draw between the sides in ten previous meetings and Bolton have the ninth best attack in the Premier League.

Backing over 2.5 goals looks well worth consideration at 8/11.
