Arsenal vs QPR: Van Persie 8/1 to score hat-trick to break record

All eyes will almost certainly be on Robin Van Persie for Arsenal’s final game of 2011 against QPR and whether the Dutchman can break Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year.

The Dutchman requires a hat-trick to better the 36-goal mark set by Shearer and it is 8/1 that Van Persie scores three or more against QPR.

However, Arsenal have only managed to score more than one goal in just four of their last 15 Premier League matches at the Emirates.

Van Persie’s constant stream of goals have helped fire Arsenal back into the top-four picture in recent months after a slow start to the season and the Gunners will want to quickly bounce back to winning ways after a clumsy home draw to Wolves.

Arsenal wasted a glut of decent chances to beat Wolves and also again failed to shut out the opposition, managing just six clean sheets to date this season.

Mikel Arteta has urged the club to tighten up defensively in order to boost their chances of victory and it is 1/4 in the Premier League odds that Arsenal beat QPR.

Meanwhile, it is 1/1 that Arsenal beat QPR alongside keeping a clean sheet.

At the other end, Theo Walcott is expected to return after missing the Wolves draw with a stomach bug and he looks good value at 7/4 to net at any point inside the 90 minutes.

QPR have managed more victories on their travels than their own patch so far this season, so are unlikely to arrive at Arsenal with any fear despite losing four of their last six Premier League games.

Neil Warnock’s team have only triumphed once since October so the 10/1 that they leave the Emirates with three points looks about right, but they are capable of stealing a draw, which can be backed at 5/1.
