Tottenham show top four credentials as Liverpool slip up

Tottenham Hotspur have shortened to 1/1 to get back into the Champions League following an excellent weekend for Harry Redknapp’s men.

Spurs proved too good for a Fulham side who were unlucky not to take at least a point from a game they eventually lost 3-1 thanks to goals from Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe.

The win takes Spurs to fifth in the table and level on points with Chelsea who sit in fourth thanks to their superior goal difference.

Spurs have now gone eight Premier League games without defeat and continue to look good for that fourth Champions League spot.

Liverpool have drifted to 13/8 to finish in the top four following their goalless draw against Swansea City on Saturday.

The Reds have now drawn their last three home games against Manchester United, Norwich City and the Swans and face a rampant Manchester City in their next league game at Anfield.

On the plus side, it was the first time Kenny Dalglish’s men have stopped the opposition scoring at Anfield this season and they now have the international break to restore some stability.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are firmly back in the hunt for a Champions League spot following their convincing 3-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

The Gunners are now 11/8 – a shorter price than Liverpool – to finish in the top four yet again.

Finally, surprise package Newcastle United are still out at 16/1 to finish in the Champions League places and are currently third in the league following their Saturday win over Everton.
