Some horses to follow on day two of Breeders Cup part one

Published:

Following our advice on day one of the Breeders Cup would have left you in profit and we are hoping to enjoy similar success on the second and final day of the meeting.

Musical Romance led the way with victory in the Filly Mare Sprint at 20/1, while Secret Circle triumphed in the Juvenile Sprint, with each-way tip Shumoos taking second in the same race.

There was also some each-way returns for Weemissfrankie in the Juvenile Fillies’ race.

With nine races taking place on day two, these have been broken down into two separate previews, with the first four races below and the remainder here.

17:20 – Breeders Cup Marathon

In a race that looks tough to call, A.U. Miner has beaten many of these rivals and Brigantin holds a victory over recent Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden to his name and both are likely to be popular.

But preference is for each-way contender Harrison’s Cave from the Aidan O’Brien yard at 20/1, who may be taking a major step up in class but won very impressively last time.

18:02 – Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf

There are high hopes for British duo Caspar Netscher and Farraaj, although the former is not certain to stay 1m and the latter may not be suited to the sharp left-handed track at Churchill Downs.

Backing Caspar Netscher each-way at 10/1 is decent value, but in terms of finding a winner it is hard to oppose Finale at 6/1, who is three from three in his turf career and already holds victories over many of his Breeders Cup opposition.

18:37 – Breeders Cup Sprint

Big Drama looks the one to beat as he attempts to defend the title he won last year, but there are doubts about his current fitness, having run just twice all season.

As an each-way alternative, Amazombie could threaten at 7/1 if continuing to display the consistency of recent races.

19:21 – Breeders Cup Turf Sprint

An awkward one to assess with no European interest, but Caracortado at 7/1 could be one to side with as it appears that he is running against weaker opposition here than that he has faced when performing with credit earlier in the season.
