Roger Federer’s searing form sees him odds-on favourite for ATP title

Published:

Roger Federer crushed his great rival Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-0 to take a straight sets victory and advance to the semi-finals in just 60 minutes – and he looks good to carry his blistering form into his upcoming clash with Mardy Fish.

The Swiss master, widely regarded as the greatest to ever play the game, is understandably just 1/10 to overcome his American challenger, who is 6/1 following his defeat at the hands of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Such was Federer’s dominace that he is now 4/6 to win the ATP World Tour title and, should he prove successful, it would be a sixth triumph in the competition for the imperious performer.

In terms of match betting, punters looking for longer odds on Roger Federer could do worse than study individual serve markets on his match against Fish.

Federer is 2/7 to break serve first, and you can get 10/11 on there being over 4.5 total breaks of serve within the fixture.

It is a tempting 11/2 for Federer’s serve to be broken at any time, in contrast to the miniscule 1/10 that it is not.

The best value bet on Federer however, appears to be in the handicap market, as the 8/11 available for the five-time champion to win giving up a 4.5 game head start looks unmissable.

After overcoming Nadal in such dominant fashion, these odds look superb – especially bearing in mind that the same bet would have paid dividends in the Nadal clash.

Of the main threats to Federer within the tournament is current world number one Novak Djokovic.

The Serb is priced at 9/4 to win the tournament and could be the only man capable of stopping Federer.

However, the form the Swiss has displayed so far in the tournament makes him look good to collect a sixth title.
