Odds suggest the X Factor winner will miss out on Christmas No.1

| 28.11.2011

Michael Bublé is closing in on favouritism in the Christmas Number One Album betting according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies make his appropriately titled ‘Christmas’ just a 6/4 chance in the top album market having been as big as 8/1 when introduced. Amy Winehouse’s ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ is still ahead at 5/4 while Rihanna appears the only realistic alternative with her ‘Talk That Talk’ at 5/1.

In the single betting the eventual X Factor winner will have their work cut out to overhaul the Military Wives Choir who are now the 13/8 favourites to hold off hopefuls Marcus Collins (9/2), Little Mix (9/2) and Nirvana at 6/1 in their quest to register this season’s festive number one.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We usually go into December with The X Factor dominating Christmas Number One betting. It’s all change now and we expect the Military Wives Choir to soon be odds-on.”

He added: “Michael Bublé is picking up the pace in the bid to get the number one album and it looks like he’ll be the favourite throughout December.”
