Amy Winehouse & Amelia Lily on track to top Christmas charts

AMY WINEHOUSE is the odds-on favourite to register this year’s Christmas Number One Album according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies make her ‘Lioness:Hidden Treasures’ the 4/6 favourite to hold off competition from the likes of Rihanna (4/1) and JLS (5/1 to hit the top spot with their ‘Up All Night’). Susan Boyle can be backed at 12/1 for the best-selling long player, while Steps & Professor Green are the 66/1 outsiders.

The singles market is a far closer betting contest with new X Factor favourite Amelia Lily clinging onto favouritism (7/2) from this year’s apparent anti-X Factor campaign anthem ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ at 4/1. The remainder of the X Factor finalists make up the running with the cast of The Only Way Is Essex notable entries at just 8/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Amelia Lily has blazed a trail to the top of the Christmas Number One betting on the back of her X Factor return. The pink haired sensation is the one they all have to beat for the top spot but Nirvana are hot on her heels as the campaign builds momentum.”
