Amelia favourite for X Factor exit, but act on first most at risk

After finding herself in the bottom two this week on the X Factor, Amelia Lily is the favourite to be the next act eliminated, but the artist unfortunate to sing first could be the most at risk of failing to make the semi finals.

Craig Colton’s exit means that the competition has now reached the quarter finals, with Amelia fortunate to avoid eliminated for a second time after surviving the first voting deadlock of the series.

The fact she has not had the same time as other contestants to build up a fanbase is clearly a negative and song choices will be particularly important in the final few weeks.

However, the result was a massive step backwards for Amelia, who was favourite to win the show after her performance the previous week.

This sway and the elimination of Craig goes to show how tight the current series is and one below-par performance could have major repercussions towards an act’s chances of victory.

Amelia is now 2/1 to fail to reach the semi finals and out from 11/4 to 7/1 in the X Factor betting to win the show.

The quarter finals means for the first time this series that each act will perform two songs and whoever has to open the show could find themselves going home.

In the seven live shows to date, on five occasions the show opener has been eliminated, with Craig being the third contestant in succession to fit this trend.

Another reason why it may pay to discover the running order is because only three times in the series to date has an act singing in the second half of a live show ended up in a sing off and two of these were Kitty Brucknell, who was a bit of an acquired taste.

Janet Devlin, Little Mix and Misha B have all still never sung first in an X Factor show as yet.
