Wolves out at a massive 16/1 to beat Man City after Carling Cup rout
Wolverhampton Wanderers capitulation against Manchester City in their Wednesday Carling Cup clash has seen Mick McCarthy’s men drift to a huge 16/1 to win their rematch this Saturday.
City were once again irresistible as they swept Wolves aside 5-2 thanks to goals from Adam Johnson, Samir Nasri, a Edin Dzeko brace and a Dorus de Vries own goal.
Roberto Mancini’s men have now hit 21 goals in their previous five games and it’s looking increasingly ominous for Wolves.
They have won just one of their previous nine games – a 5-0 League Cup win against Millwall – and were dire for long periods against Swansea City last weekend.
They may have managed to scramble a draw out of that game, but City won’t be as accommodating as the Swans and the Premier League leaders are currently 1/6 to get another win.
However, for those of you who fancy a long-odds punt on Wolves there are a few encouraging factors to consider.
Wolves managed a shock 2-1 win against City at Molineux last season and hit three goals at Eastlands, although they did eventually lose 4-3.
This is a different Man City side to the one who was happy to settle for a top four finish last season though and City should sweep aside Wolves and increase the pressure on McCarthy and Man Utd.
If you fancy a really long-odds bet, then City can be backed at 33/1 to repeat last Sunday’s result and win 6-1 – exactly the same odds as Wolves are to scrape a 2-1 victory.
