Victory at Korean Grand Prix sure to be a season goal for Red Bull

Winning the drivers’ and constructors’ championship may have been the chief goals for Red Bull for the current Formula One season, but some smaller targets are still to be reached, including making amends for their disappointing display at the Korean Grand Prix last season.

Sebastian Vettel has already confirmed his second successive drivers’ title and the team are well on course for the constructors’ crown, assembling a 130-point lead over nearest pursuers McLaren with four races remaining.

The first of these takes place in Korea and this was not a race that went well for Red Bull last season as both Vettel and teammate Mark Webber were forced to retire in the inaugural Grand Prix in the country.

Webber span in the wet conditions and smashed into a safety barrier, while Vettel was far less to blame for his retirement as his engine blew up.

They will at least be hopeful of securing a spot on the podium, while both Vettel and Webber have reasons to want to achieve victory.

If Vettel can will all four remaining races, he will equal Michael Schumacher’s record of 13 victories in a Formula One season.

Meanwhile, four podium finishes will give him the record of 18 in a Formula One season on his own, eclipsing Schumacher’s record of 17.

Webber has been far more disappointing this season than Vettel, but is still involved in the race to finish second in the drivers’ championship, with Red Bull sure to be pushing for a one-two finish in the final standings.

Vettel is the 11/8 favourite in the Formula One odds to win the Korean Grand Prix, with Webber 8/1 to triumph for the first time this season.
