Roy Keane slashed to 8/1 to be next Leicester City manager
Published:The odds on Roy Keane becoming the next Leicester City boss have come crashing in to 8/1 following some big money bets on the former Manchester United skipper.
Currently without a job since his January departure from Ipswich Town, his odds have come in from 25/1.
The news may not fill Leicester fans’ hearts with joy, but the combative Irishman has proven credentials in the Championship, winning the title for Sunderland in 2007.
Sunderland’s form rocketed after Keane’s arrival and he is acknowledged as a hard task master who ruthlessly cuts players deemed surplus to requirements – something the underperforming Foxes will either relish or hate.
However, Lee Clark is the firm favourite at 1/1 despite denying reports of a potential move away from Huddersfield Town.
He said: “I am not applying for any job – I am a Huddersfield manager working for a fantastic man and a fantastic board.”
Elsewhere, former favourite for the job, Martin O’Neill, has drifted out to 6/1 to take the reins.
O’Neill is currently unemployed after quitting Aston Villa in 2010 over a dispute with Chairman Randy Lerner, but the rumours surrounding the former Leicester boss have cooled.
Mark Hughes remains interesting at 11/4 and the club certainly has ambitions that could match Hughes’s – Sven-Goran Eriksson was shown the door despite being just two points off the play-off positions.
Finally, former Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies is out at 4/1 after leaving Forest at the end of last season.
