Rock week may struggle to save Frankie Cocozza on X Factor
Published:Frankie Cocozza should have no excuses on the third week of the X Factor, but 5/1 could still prove a big price that he is the next act eliminated.
It seems that the show bosses have done all they can to keep Frankie in the competition, as a late change in theme from Motown to rock has arguably been done solely with him in mind.
With viewing figures down, the X Factor can hardly afford to have Frankie or Kitty Brucknell voted off at this early stage as these two acts are certainly generating more media appeal that the other contestants.
And with Frankie a slightly surprise member of the bottom two on the second live show, there is a bigger danger that his cheeky boy image has not generated the fanbase that was initially predicted.
Frankie has previously blamed song choices for his poor X Factor performances, but with his general attitude being better suited to rock than the majority of other acts, this excuse will almost certainly not wash again.
Regardless of his appeal, Frankie still has to prove he can actually sing and with a large number of rock songs requiring fairly big vocals, his quiet voice and lack of range is in danger of being exposed.
Mentor Gary Barlow will be more careful than ever with his song choice and something like ‘Park Life’ by Blur with its talking verses would fit the criteria of a song Frankie could pull off with some credit.
A slightly more risky choice like ‘I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor’ by the Arctic Monkeys could also work and would fit in with Frankie’s antics in the past few days.
The latest is that he was given a night out of the X Factor house to go partying, with the reports suggesting that he spent the evening in the company of three student girls, returning to the house the following morning having had little sleep.
Some people may feel that he was using this as a final time to take advantage of the limelight before getting voted off the X Factor.
