Money coming for Manchester City to celebrate quadruple

Published:

Punters are seemingly willing to overlook Manchester City’s precarious position in the Champions League as Roberto Mancini’s men are being heavily supported to complete the quadruple this season.

Manchester City’s odds are 150/1 to win four trophies and it is in Europe where their hunt for silverware looks in most danger of failure.

Domestically, the club look almost invincible, making serene progress into the quarter finals of the Carling Cup without really breaking sweat and through utilising the majority of the second string in their elite squad.

They have also done little wrong in the Premier League, as they are top of the table and unbeaten through nine games, having scored 33 goals in the process.

It is on their travels that the greatest impact has been made, with a 5-1 at Tottenham eclipsed by a 6-1 hammering of supposed chief Premier League title rivals Manchester United.

Manchester City are now favourites for the first time this season to win the Premier League at 6/5 and a respectable 25/1 to celebrate a domestic treble.

However, in Europe everything has not been so rosy, as they are at risk of not even advancing from the Champions League group stages.

They were taught a small footballing lesson of the style needed to shine in European competition by Bayern Munich and only just scrambled to victory in the dying seconds at home to Group A weak link Villarreal.

Manchester City theoretically need seven points to ensure their progression into the knockout rounds, although two victories should be enough.

From there the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will be waiting in the draw and then it will be obvious just how far the club has progressed in the last two seasons.

It is 14/1 in the Champions League odds that Manchester City win the tournament come May.

Punters failing to believe the hype surrounding Manchester City can get 2/1 that they finish the season trophyless.
