Lazio vs Roma: Huge chance for Edy Reja to break his duck

Shock defeats for Inter and Napoli on Saturday give enemies Lazio and Roma even more to play for on Sunday night, as both bid to boost their pushes for Champions League places…

Match odds

One of the most incredible Serie A stats sees Lazio coach Edy Reja having never defeated his club’s fiercest rivals Roma, with Francesco Totti revelling in bringing that fact up in the build-up, but there is reason to believe that streak will finally be broken.

Most significantly, the outspoken Giallorossi captain, who was the decisive figure in the most recent collision between the two with both goals, has been ruled out of the latest showdown at the Stadio Olimpico through injury.

Also important though is that Lazio now have something that they have lacked in the last few derbies, several of which they were rather unfortunate to lose: proven goalscorers.

Djibril Cisse is one, however the most important, and the Biancocelesti’s most prolific performer so far this season with five strikes in seven appearances, is Miroslav Klose, who also looked in danger of missing out at one stage.

The German veteran was on the scoresheet as his side claimed an impressive 2-1 win at Fiorentina last time out and 6/4 is a generous price on them building on that by breaking Roma’s run of five straight derby triumphs with a victory of their own.

Other markets

Despite Roma boss Luis Enrique’s attempts to impose a Spanish style on his new charges, they haven’t been hugely entertaining to date, with just two of their seven matches producing over 2.5 goals. Under 2.5 therefore appeals at 8/11.

Klose’s aforementioned strong form makes him the standout candidate to break the deadlock at 6/1, while 11/8 on a red card being shown is understandable after nine dismissals in their last seven clashes.
