Johnny becoming everyone’s X Factor guilty pleasure

Published:

Judge Kelly Rowland has already labelled Johnny Robinson her ‘guilty pleasure’ and it seems that he is having the same impact on the X Factor voting public.

At the start of the live shows, Johnny was the 66/1 outsider of the 12 acts to achieve victory.

This is because he was largely considered Louis Walsh’s annual X Factor joke act that would survive a few weeks and then be given the boot.

Something similar has happened to both Jedward and Wagner in recent years, remaining until the mid-way point of the competition before finally being voted off.

However, whereas it appeared that Jedward and Wagner were being kept in solely to irritate Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges, it seems Johnny does actually have a fair number of real fans.

The applause has been rapturous for Johnny following his first two performances and arguably louder than for any other contestant.

This support has also transferred to the X Factor betting, with Johnny backed into 20/1 to win the show.

The other semi-big mover in the odds is Marcus Collins, who finally benefited from a first suitable song choice from mentor Gary Barlow.

Marcus has struggled to impress in the opening two shows, but appeared to flourish on rock week with his rendition of ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ by Lenny Kravitz.

He also debatably comes across as the nicest act in the competition, which will appeal to some of the voting public and is relatively versatile in what he can perform.

Marcus is now 14/1 from 20/1 to win the X Factor and there is certainly the feeling that there is plenty more to come from him yet, particularly if the right song is found.
